“Post Harvest Technology of Agri-Horticultural Crops” is a most wanted paradigm shift from agricultural crops to value added horticultural crops with their food processing and allied industries for the benefit of the farmers. Stagnation of agricultural growth and productivity is experienced since the decade of nineties with slow change of socio-economic progress of the farm sector. Diversity and conservation of all our biological resources including genetic resources, medicinal plants, tropical forest resources, water resources, coastal resources and productive Agri-Horticultural crops with their food processing is the need of the hour to remove hunger from the society. Bio-fach movement to thrust organic framing, hi-tech and commercial horticulture, biotechnology, organic foods to supply for ecological pest management, use of drip and sprinkler irrigation and plastic agriculture, food processing and horticulture industries, export scenario, incentives in food processing and horticulture schemes, efficient post harvest technology of agri-horticultural crops and modern researches, etc. will surely augment the national progress reaching the goal of Vision-2020. Of course, all these are subject to varying nature of risks, opportunities and feasibilities of enhanced socio-economic security towards the farming community. The author has been prompted to write this book which is chalked out into Eight chapters as stated above. He has tried to analyse deeply of the above subjects with modern thoughts of the research scientists, planners, economists, sociologists and cyber extension process with ITK, concerning of a human face in the development of farm sector. Adoption—Diffusion process of hi-tech Agri-Horticulture Technologies, scope of agro-industries with technology transfer, role of gender in farm sector for food security have also been dealt with properly. Social equity of the farmers is of paramount importance. Suggestions are invited for enriching the contents of the book in future.
